During the same time, Emaar Malls of Dubai made an offer for souq.com of $800 million & Amazon.com Inc. confirmed that souq.com would be acquired by them with around $700 million. The deal is still in the process and expected to get completed in 2017.

Mr Mouchawar, the chief executive officer of souq.com has recently said in an interview that online sales have grown between 60 and 90% thanks to high mobile penetration & the young population who are familiar with technology these days. The company is continuously improvising their product line to attract & retain customers. They recently launched automotive category to provide a huge selection of car accessories online at the most promising deals. The automotive category is one of the firsts in the region for an e-commerce platform.
